Several students commented "cikgu, aku x payah datang sekolah pun boleh pelajar ba!!"
I learned the word dejavu from watching the matrix. I learned about the blindspot when i read a doremon comic. I learned about inertia by watching sauce come out of the bottle. I learned about last resorts from a paparoach song (lameeee group they were) i learned the concept of broken homes and troubled teenagers from memorizing eminem songs. I learned many things that i know today from outside of the classroom.
But still, the classroom is where most of my learning happens. Even until today.
So why are people questioning the role of schools in educating people?
Some other students also said (more of screaming) "alaaaa orang x pi skolah pun boleh kaya laaaa !!!!!"
I....hmmm i should simply replied:
Good luck.

Hehe, 'good luck'.
P.S. sama macam kat sini jugak. "Eleh cekgu...kami takyah gi sekolah pun kami buleh hidup." tu la yang ramai tak sekolah terus - mereka kerja di kedai atau bengkel. Yang tak bernasib baik, masuk kongsi gelap dan curi motor. Iya, belajar jugak...tapi 'school of hard knocks' la
betul! still can be considered as learning. tapi, beza kan belajar hal baik dgn hal buruk. sekurang2 nya ada sekolah untuk membantu kita fikir mana pilihan yang baik n mana pilihan yg kurang bijak..
kasian budak2. well, we teachers can only do so much; but in the end, it's personal choice.
...such kids; they don't want to learn, and then when things mess up they say "Saya tak pernah diajar pun di sekolah"
Waz, are you teaching high school students?
How are you coping with dealing teenagers? I think by far that is the hardest phase in a person's life to handle.
They don't drain you? I mean, I always imagine how hard it is to tell and teach them about life after school and how we have expactations and we want to tell them that this and that are important but they will just ignore it.
And I can imagine myself being a teacher and feeling so sad when that happens.
That is why I look up to teachers !
Share teacher Waz, share with us how you handle being emotionally uninspired by that.
Oh I love educators ❤
hai Azreen. Yes i am teaching upper-form secondary students (form 4 and form 5)
they actually reminds me of myself when i was in high school, so, when i think about it, they dont really surprise me much. but at times, yes, they do burn me out.
actually, teaching them is the easy part. the difficult part is mendidik...teaching them about life and the real life..thats the hard part. feel like wanting to 'save' them all, but you only have two hands and a brain. at times this makes me feel helpless and hopeless...
but then again, its not my job to save the world and the human race. i can only do so much with these hands and brain, i'll stretch as much as i can for them but not until i break...tu saja heheheh
im still not a good educator. but im trying. hard.
thanks for the kind words azreen :)
